In order to minimise voltage drop and power loss it is recommended that Schottky diodes are used. Lite series modules do not have terminal boxes fitted, therefore the blocking diode needs to be fitted externally to the module, usually within a junction box where the modules are terminated.

It means when forward biased, the Schottky diode saves almost the voltage level of single photovoltaic cell (which is 0.5V) in each series string. In other words, it provide an efficient operation of photovoltaic cells due to lower power dissipation in blocking mode.
